Architects are important, but a constructor who knows costs, feasibilities, and constructability is invaluable to the Owner. Once the plans are on paper, very little can be done about the project’s cost without more design fees.  Without someone managing the design phase, your project could be over budget and have unanticipated long-term maintenance costs.
